The International Conference on Software Business (ICSOB) 2014 will host a Doctoral Symposium as a scientific and networking event specifically for young academics. PhD students are invited to participate and present their research ideas and projects, discuss them with the scientific community, and establish collaborations in their field of research.

In accordance with the theme of the main conference ("Shortening the time-to-market - from short cycle times to continuous value delivery"), the Doctoral Symposium addresses young researchers who are concerned with software business in every possible way.

The Doctoral Symposium will consist of a thematically structured schedule of presentations. As a participant you will get a 30-minute slot, in which you are expected to present your research project by a 10-minute presentation, while the remaining 20 minutes provide time for discussion and feedback by fellow researchers.

To participate in the doctoral symposium, you have to submit your research abstract via Easychair by May 1st, 2014.

Please use this template for writing your research abstract. The abstract must not exceed TWO pages (including references, LNBIP style) and has to comprise the following five parts:

1. Problem and research question
2. Related Work
3. Methods
4. Preliminary Results
5. Next Steps

All accepted research abstracts will be distributed among the participants of the Doctoral Symposium one week before the conference, so that you have a chance to inform yourself about the other participants' work prior to the actual presentation.

The doctoral symposium research abstract will be included in the conference proceedings.

Also, we might later on get the opportunity to open a call for extended versions of the research abstracts for publication in the ICSOB post-proceedings. For these articles, you would in particular be expected to take up the outcomes of the discussion of your work during the doctoral symposium.
